Let me say this from the outset. It is critically important to realize that the target was not Hailu Shawel, per se. The target was, what was intended to achieve by targeting Hailu Shawel. In my opinion, we have failed to see the bigger picture.

Previously I argued against Berhanu Nega's group coming to the United States of America before establishing the frame work for initiating the struggle, to be applied when conditions allow. But, from the extent of the exposure of the political deception and the conspiracy by the Berhanu Nega's group that came to the open while in jail, it is safe to say that there is the hand of God in pushing this unbelievable group to come to the United States immediately after their release from jail. It was a blessing in disguise. It is quite obvious that the deception and the conspiracy against the people of Ethiopia was not conceived inside the jail. These cheap, greedy, degenerate, thuggish latecomers conceived it before, and started to implement it when they joined the two tested and experience-hardened political organizations, EDP and AEUP. How can one expect political leadership from these individuals? In addition, the Berhanu Nega's group coming to the United States also exposed the lack of substance and short sightedness in some of the elites of the Diaspora.

Here are what were exposed:

First

, we were imagining, at least the presence of some semblance of unity and cohesion among the Kinijit groups that would have followed them to jail. Alas! we discovered that was not the case. There relationships were so rotten it stinks. I am so irritated I can't tell you how I despise these selfish individuals. This Kestedemena group, who were wining and dining with the top leaders of the regime while the people of Ethiopia are miserably suffering, have unequivocally showed their true picture that started to show up inside the jail. One cannot and should not expect these individuals to be leaders in the political struggle to liberate the Ethiopian people from its enemy, their friend. These are saboteurs of the highest caliber. Therefore, the solution is to get rid of them. To force these incompatible bodies, with the motives and propensity to sabotage the struggle, to work with the other groups is, a) condemning the political struggle, and b) to let Meles succeed. It is against of what is taken care by God in favor of Ethiopia. The removal of Kestedemena, hence Berhanu Nega and his collaborators does not affect Kinijit a bit. Nor does it mean the division of Kinijit, provided it retains Kinijit as its name, as some would like us to believe. Absolutely not.

Second

, here is what is really amazing. Even after listening to the public witness of Prof. Messfin Woldemariam, Ato Tesfaye Tariku, Ato Bedru Adem, and W/t Nigist Gebre Hiot, some of the Diaspora elites could not fathom the extent of the sabotage and the extent of the damage done by Berhanu Nega's group. These outspoken elites of the current generations (tiwlid) who pretend to think and act in response to the misery of the Ethiopian people are devoid of critical thinking. In my opinion, they are potentially and unintentionally hemorrhaging Ethiopia and its people. The struggle in Ethiopia is a function of Time. The longer Meles is left to stay in power the greater the erosion of the Unity of Ethiopian people. Furthermore, the struggle in Ethiopia demands critical thinking, critical analysis, and even critical reading. For example, how many of us have read what Berhanu Nega presented in Congress very critically? Our struggle demands even for critical arguments or discussions. For example to say, " If one is not in a hurry, even an egg will start walking," Ethiopian proverb, or, to say "He who takes his time does not fall..." Somali proverb, a proverb that did not help the Somali people themselves, do not indicate critical thinking. Not only that, it contradicts that time is the essence in the struggle for the political and economic freedom of Ethiopian society. Not questioning as to why Berhanu Nega did not talk in favor of HR2003 in front of the African Sub-Committee, the Committee that sponsored the Bill, is not critical thinking, nor does it show critical observation. Not questioning why Prof. Messfin Woldemariam exited Kestedemena is not critical thinking, nor does it show critical observation. Not questioning Birtukan Mideksa's response to Rep. Smith's question of political prisoners estimate to be 100 does not show critical thinking, nor does it show critical observation. Not to question the assertion by Berhanu Nega, Birtukan Mideksas's response, does not show critical thinking, nor does it show critical observation. For Berhanu Nega not to correct the response is an assertion. Bottom line, it's the mother of all intentional cover ups, tantamount to committing crime against the people of Ethiopia. .

Third

, the opportunist print and electronics mass media publishers and operators were unquestionably exposed too. Instead of being neutral within the opposition forces and investigate the situation very critically to find out the truth and use it in favor of Ethiopian people, they blindly ganged up against concrete irrefutable facts. Which is tantamount to entering the sympathy zone of Meles. The public witness of Prof. Messfin Woldemariam, Ato Tesfaye Tariku, Ato Bedru Adem, and W/t Nigist Gebre Hiot did not budge them. These open witnesses should have been their tools for these hypocrite public media producers and distributors. They did not use them. What would one expect from opportunists? It is very sad. Bottom line, they had contributed to the plan of Meles which is to divide any opposing forces in the North America.

Fourth

, here is another very important exposure. The coalition of those who still have, and those who have had relationships with Meles Zenawi and his regime have taken over the forum. This coalition is a good indicator of Meles's regime taking over North America in general and Washington DC in particular. What does the return of Meles Zenawi from New York to Ethiopia without any protestation tell you? Given these objective realities, one can clearly see the depth of the penetration made by Andargachew Tsige and Berhanu Mewa, hence, Kestedemena, hence Meles Zenawi in the United States of America. In my opinion this is the only logical linkage that one aught to be able to draw from this group's visit to the United States of America. They left behind a negatively charged environment all over of the United States of America, a fertile ground for further unhindered activities of Meles‘s regime. Please note this. Meles broke the back bone of the opposition forces in Ethiopia and now he is doing it here in the United States of America. Wake up folks!!

A gentleman, who deliberately ignored what the four distinguished individuals I mention above have openly witnessed, asked, "did the Berhanu Nega's group succeeded in its mission?" His response was yes. These types of non-critical analysis, on the part of this individual, invites to question ones intellectual integrity particularly when an elite of his caliber ignores these types of concrete facts My answer to the question he stated is going to be yes too. Because of Berhanu Nega‘s mission, Meles Zenawi finally succeeded to have the upper hand to run the political activities of his liking in the United States of America.
