Fishing in troubled waters - Elias Kifle's unabated servitude to Issaas Afeworki

What triggered me to write this article is what Elias Kifle recently wrote in his Shaabia paid mouthpiece website; with obvious deception claiming that his personal website is an "Ethiopian website". Elias Kifle has been on fire lately and has been the receiver of relentless outrage from many Ethiopians due to his extreme, at times fiercely provocative scribbling. Indeed, for over two decades, Elias has been fishing in troubled waters and marching with treason along the river banks of Ethiopia by opting to remain the right hand-man of Shaabia's famous thuggish tyrant Issaass Afeworki.

Those of us who know why Elias is in bondage to destructive groups like the Siltee separatists in Central Ethiopia, or why Elias is affectionate with the Shaabia loving Ginbot-7 group of Birhanu Nega and Andargachew Tsige, or why Elias so adores Shaabia tugs like the ONLF and OLF, are all an open secret. So if Elias claims to supports all kinds of anti-Ethiopia groups yet dropping and dripping his crocodile tears in sympathy for Ethiopia; or if he names Issaass Afeworki as the "Person of The Year" for the latter's keen "contribution to Ethiopia's struggle for freedom"; all these scribbling are simply Elias's political ploy for sheer personal aggrandizement and hidden benefits at the cost of mocking on Ethiopia and Ethiopian national affairs.   

Let us face it; Elias's mockery and subterfuge put aside, majority Ethiopians acknowledge Issaass Afeworki as the ‘God father of all troubles infested inside contemporary Eastern Africa region; starting from Sudan in the North down to Somalia in South East, South Sudan and Northern Uganda in Central; and Rwanda and Burundi in Southern Africa. To say the least, Afeworki is the mother of all troubles and trouble breeding terrorists including Shaabia. So Isaass Afeworki is responsible for what is negatively unfolding in today's Ethiopia. It is Isaass Afeworki's master plan that is put into action that we keep on witnessing everywhere; all this actions simply to divide Ethiopia into smaller ethnic enclaves like the Bantustan system in South Africa in order to benefit Eritrea's 3 million populations at the expense of Ethiopia's 80 million populations.

To date, Afework's Shaabia remains fueled and fully financed by Arab-petrol-dollar spear-headed by Egypt, Iraq and Pakistan who always wanted to witness Eritrea secede from Ethiopia. Indeed, there was even a time when Isaass Afeworki claimed that Eritrea is an Arab Muslim state for which he received huge sums of funds from Egypt, Syria, Libya and Iraq whose key objective was to funnel petrol dollar that could destabilize and block any internal progress inside Ethiopia; and in return allows solely Egypt to utilize 85% of the rich, solid dark and fertile silt soil carried away from Ethiopia by the Blue Nile River.  

So there is nothing provocative, nothing appalling and destructive by Elias Kifle, than naming Isaass Afeworki, who master minded the steering-up of divisive ethnic based ideology on Ethiopia, as the "Person of the Year".  This is sheer mockery. Isaass Afeworki can't be recognized as a man of democracy. Afeworki's policy towards Ethiopia cannot be characterized with anything other than pragmatism, good neighborliness and the inescapable understanding that Ethiopia and Eritrea are bound by much more than just their recent past bitter incidences. Honestly, I'm ashamed of reading Elias Kifle's scribbling informing the wide public that the Eritrean Tyrant is the person of the year (by claiming that the selection is based on the contribution Issass Afeworki has made for the betterment of Ethiopia).

For his continued contemptuous and malicious acts Elias remains miserably a failed spin doctor and an arrogant publisher of his tabloid website called "Ethiopian Review". Notwithstanding his self appointment as the chief editor of his tabloid, Elias continues teasing on and testing the emotional reactions of Ethiopians in Diaspora. Since few years now, Elias churns out from his comfortable roving sit in Washington DC all kinds of orders to obey group leaders of his own likings as the one time Woyane moles - as Andargachew Tsige and Birhanu Nega. This time, he boldly went public declaring the Eritrean Tyrant Isaass Afeworki as "Ethiopia's man of the year". Actually, in his simplistic mode of thinking, all the enemies of Ethiopia, including those working to dismember Ethiopia into peaces are considered as best friends." As a clear-cut traitor and a sell out individuals, Elias and his cohorts forget that they are committing treason against Ethiopia by offering unconditional support for the Eritrean Tyrant; and all other entities under its umbrella for the common purpose of attacking Ethiopia. This is a disgraceful act of treason directed against all Ethiopians.

Elias seems totally consumed by and held in cloudy rationale simply by his personal hatred and vengeance towards Woyane. A case in point is his recent push for gathering support to Andargachew Tsige and Berhanu Nega, who jointly but unsuccessfully brewed Shaabia's extended-arm league called Ginbot-7 among Ethiopians in Diaspora in which Ellias is equally involved in the making. Indeed Elias urges the innocent and yet the unaware Diaspora public to join the Ginbot-7 armed struggle under Commandant Isaass Afeworki's blessings.

A 2^nd case in point is the April, 2007 incidence, at which time, Elias congratulated the ONLF militant group for massacring 65 Ethiopian and 9 Chinese citizens at an oil field in East Ethiopia; and said it was a "brave" act of murder and "a job well-done." Elias further requested the ONLF militants as well as the OLF rebel group to do more massacres in East Ethiopia and "carry out similar operations on Al Amoudi's gold mines."

Thus, all Elias does in his tabloid website - "Ethiopian Review" is nothing but broadcast insults, slanders, blackmails and tantrums. Elias Kifle's primary intention of dwelling on such travesties actually reflects his malicious past; when, for too long, he did venture with several projects involving Ethiopians in Diaspora starting from the mid and late 1980s in California till the present day in Washington DC, where he continues to indulge into personal conflicts with those individuals who differ in opinion with him. As a person he knows no modesty and has no judgmental feelings. To the contrary he is sadist who enjoys teasing by testing peoples' feelings pertaining to be sensational or emotional. Rest assured Elias Kifle's applause towards Issaass Afeworki and his shameless request to Ethiopians in Diaspora to form a formidable alliance with the latter, by daring to name a none-Ethiopian to be Ethiopia's man of the year is a solid case proving Kifle's contemptuous feeling towards Ethiopia. What good has Afeworki done to be acclaimed as ER's man of the year? Is it for the blood letting, for the misery, for the dictatorship, and for the mafia crimes or is it for land locking Ethiopia with the full support of the treasonous tyrant? In Eritrea Isaass is a dictator who clings to everything under his power by showering his citizens with untold troubles, crimes and bloodbath, where he is the omnipotent and omniscient; the doctor, the farmer, the engineer, the constitution, the court, the army and what have you. Issaass is literally the God of Eritrea who must be obeyed by all means. So the Eritrean tyrant is given something to smile on when he reads the self-claimed liberator's (Elias Kifle's) scribbling praising Afeworki as the man of the year.

For one's record, here are the 2007 Elias Kifle's winners of ER's person of the year: "Dr. Berhanu Nega, Daud Ebsa [OLF leader with a secessionist agenda], Isaass Afeworki [an architect of Ethiopia's turmoil, but now Elias Kifle's Godfather of liberty]. Actually, Dr Berhanu is working hand and glove with OLF and ONLF leaders in order to bring a working formula after the demise of the Woyane regime.

So those of us, who are longing for stable democracy, should not miss and be misled by tugs like Elias kifle only to end up fueling and funding Ethiopia's enemies, OLF, ONLF, Ginbot-7 and Shaabia are clicks who persistently work with the Eritrean Tyrant Isaass Afeworki to ultimately dismantle Ethiopia.

Summarily, if we think Woyane is worse, these groups could become even worst, if and when they succeed in breaking apart Ethiopia into smaller denominations. If ONLF, OLF and Ginbot-7 groups succeed, we may as well voluntarily give a good kiss of good bye to what we aspire as a strong and united Ethiopia.

I agree 100% what the author of this article said, as an editor of ER brings controversial issues. First at times when he was threatened with law suit by TPLF regime, by way with siding with the dissident group,including K-6 of Andargachew Tisgue, he labled Eng. Hailu as a dictator and spread false rummors about the financial situation of Kinijit North America, I presume.

Lately, after the split of dissident group into UDJP and Ginbot 7, he turned the heat on UDJP leadership and asked W/T Birtukan like 8-point condition for entering the 2010 election, which either evaded or did not want to answer stright forwardly to state her position in relation to Kinijit/AEUP and therby the mode of her peacefull struggle. But when faced with question of the pardon, she revealed the hidden secret behind the pardon, one the that reveals taking the blame upon oneself, and the other taking a shared responibility before the court proceedings was consumated through the Simagles, which put her at odds with the current regime.

Now, the editor of ER, who is pobably biased towards Ex- EPLF domination about Ethiopian Issues, than TPLF domination of Ethiopian Issues, than the one in between and supporting all armed struggle movements based in Eritrea, including Ginbot 7, which presume works through AFD, now runs a beuty pageant for Issayas Afeworki, who two sides of the same coin with Prime mister Meles Zenawi.

What is important these contoverial view points are necessary for free flow of information on the media for us the readers to understand the nature of each of these factions. That is what Ethio-forum is doing bringing up thiese controversial and turning points for commentary from each of our understanding and analysis of the situation as part of the democratic process to agree to disagree not to denegrate and insult each other, or insult the leaders of the other opposition parties.

Actually, Elias is a notorious fellow who enjoys seeing the sad and disturbing moments of Ethiopia. His Website ER is full of anti-Ethiopia elements where you can hardly share freely any rational and objective views about Ethiopia. To the contrary, you will be denied access for coming-up with a different view. As the result, many genuine Ethiopian contributors have stopped visiting Elias Kifle’s ER or the sister Website Ethio-Forum. Obviously, facing the reality Ethiopia is going through is one thing; while sitting afar and scribbling all kinds of anti-Ethiopia Gazettes is another thing. Elias falls under the latter. That said, Elias does not give a damn if we are uprooted or not. He does what pleases him with the least concern for others feelings. So we need to call a spade a spade so that he can at least limit his extravaganza on Ethiopian affairs.

Thank you my friend. I thought Ethiopian review is an Ethiopian web site. But the selection of Isayas Afeworky (one of worst dectators in Africa) as the person of year 2008 was way beyond my expectation. How can Isayas be better than Meles?? He is the reason why we are landlocked. he is the reason why tens of thousands of Ethopian youth lost their life in the unpopular badme war. He is the one supporting somali extremists whose agenda is to radicalize Ethiopia. The nememy of my enemy is my friend can't apply here. How can a leader who is not good enough for his own people can be good for others?? Anyhow I was not a long time netter of ethiopian review but his interview with ETN, his view of peaceful struggle, his reaction to Birtukan's arrest and his pick of person of the year 2008 is more than enough to know what he is behined. He wants all Ethiopian opposition parties to fall under the direct command of isayas. I rated Ethiopian review wort web site for Ethiopia and Ethiopian betterment.
