Dear brothers and Sisters,
The IEWO will be celebrating international women's day on the 8th and 9th of March through a two day event with discussion and festivity. In this celebration, a discussion forum is organized to address the current issues and situations that are affecting the people of Africa at large and women and children in particular directly and indirectly by the violence and oppression perpetuated by the male dominated political and economic systems.
In addition, members and invited guests will address human rights issues, and the lack of justice and peace in Africa and the factors that hinder the betterment of society, economic development and empowerment of women and other social issues from women's perspective. African women will be attending the event along with invited guests on Sunday.
The vision of making Africa a peaceful continent, where misery becomes history, where children from all walks of life could attend school, have better health conditions and enjoy having access to mutually enriching cultural experiences, evidently demands the existence and active participation of organized women's movements. African women are aware that when life is globally better for the girl child it will be because it will have already improved for society as a whole.
IEWO will be celebrating the rich contribution of Ethiopian women and reaches out towards all of you convinced more than ever that making Africa a better Continent for all is everyone's historical responsibility.
Place: 1610 Columbia Rd. NW, Washington DC
Time: Saturday event starts at 2pm
Sunday meeting starts at 12 pm.
We will end the celebration with Ethiopian food, music and entertainment which enhance the spirit of empowerment and genuine friendship among African women.
