Democracy Doesn't Guarantee the Elimination of War

Response to Berhanu and Hailu Araya

Applying Theory of democracy as a remedy to everything of national and regional problem is too much myth on democracy. When Berhanu and Hailu Araya asked what they think about the Eritrea frightening situation with that of Meles's Ethiopia; their answer was, ‘Democracy" as the only alternative for both countries to solve their problem to assure peace and stability in the region.

In short, they told their audiences everything, particularly the war could have been avoided if both leaders could have been democrats who wished to establish democracy in both countries. Far from the truth.

The fact is if countries are not democratic, it doesn't necessary mean they will be at each others throat. We have seen this in Haileselassie and Mengistu of Ethiopia and even now during the "Temberaki" Meles of Ethiopia going along with none democratic/extremist Islamic Sudan of Basher and others like that of a pathetic Djibouti. The factor for the conflict is beyond the absence of democracy what Berhanu and Hailu Araya wanted us to believe in their solution to the Ethio Eritrean conflict.

It is imperative the opposition politicians should have known better than any of us the ordinary people, that the source of such tragic situation is never been  for a democracy that failed or due to the absence of democracy on both sides of the leadership. But a mission of hate against Ethiopia and Amhara ethnic community, with the assignment given to each from the surrounding Arabs and the west, each which different goal of betrayal, aimed at risking the Ethiopian sovereignty, culture and Ethiopianism proven to be tough to bend by different colonizers.

It is that mission the Arabs and the Global Society of Control found it easy to shake the foundation of the nation sovereign through their stooges namely Meles and Isayas which was not possible for them by a physical aggression they did and failed repeatedly in history.

What is the remedy to bring peace in both people is not democracy, but when justice is prevailed to Ethiopia. All facts demonstrate injustice was done to Ethiopia in 1991 and 1993 and beyond. That must be reviewed and justice must prevail to bring peace. Justice not democracy the key for an area surrounded by enemies. Neither democracy nor lack of democracy could assure war or peace. Arabs are not democrats, but we didn't see them at each other's throat. . What is missing in Ethiopia is national leader that roars like a lion in front of global enemies of Ethiopia who is determined to teach the pride and the concept of  Ethiopianim to the corrupt emotionalist youth. Not of any spirit or rhetoric of a democrat or republican saves the nation from the exceptional difficulty she is now. To deny this fact is to widen the rift of risk to the new generation. At this moment, nonsensical nihilist claim of Myth Democracy as the source what lacks to bring peace is nothing, but nourishing myth.

The present "peaceful democrats" of the opposition seemed to teach the corrupted youth, that there is "nothing" the new generation should miss about the feudal past. (This teaching is what they call it modernity or urbanite politics). Of course, such teaching could be rhetoric to boost self serving moral of the corrupt youth. Though the past was tinted with full of injustice, with its entire dark file, feudal leaders of the past asserted their country and their religion the sole property of the Ethiopian God not to the Global capitalist God! The people and the feudal leaders of the Ethiopian past still remained the identity of the nation until the current theoreticians freed themselves from the current global control monsters to assert the Ethiopian nationalism of the past.

The past has proven strong in front of the multi European colonizers. If the present opposition wimps shaken in front the global colonialist to let wide open the nation for their beautify pagan to dance in front of priests and Ethiopian patriarch as Meles is doing, then, there an opening of reason of debate to say "yes, there is something we still should miss about the past regarding pride and asserting identity.

"As Ethiopians we had dignity. We used to embolden ourselves with pride and self-respect. But these days, no matter how dignified an Ethiopian may look, whether he is an ethnos, a nationalist or an internationalist, whether he is rich, or homeless, he/she needs to restore a sense of dignity and pride. Actually dignity and pride are the qualities that each member of our society must recognize, in himself/herself and in others. If we do not recognize our own dignity and that of others, then respect is lost". {Commentary, Call me By My Name-  xvvII Wolde Tewelde alias Obo Arada Shawl}.

We know with in the last 16 years alone, many scholars from Ethiopia and Eritrea told us, that Isayas and his gangsters and Meles and his gangsters are the celebrated political prostitutes who have neither principle nor values of human decency, conscience nor morality and civility. They do anything including betraying the Eritrean/Ethiopian people as long as they get the support that help to stay in power. They are capable of doing the unexpected as long as they think it will give them a new lease of life to stay in power. "It is true we have seen it in many issues".

When it comes to Isayas of Eritrea Eritreans are saying

"We have never seen a people who have put their blind trust to one man and one organization for too long. Nor have we seen an intolerant, undemocratic and brutal leadership as the of EPLF. Isayas's Organization has abused everything at its disposal to brainwash every Eritrean within and outside the country to think alike and talk and lie the same words and behave and act as one man for too long. They are no less criminals than the worst gangsters and drug barons anywhere in the world. They lack humanity, decency and civility. They are also incapable of facing up the truth" The Berlin Appeal: from Blindfold Loyalty to a Letter of Appeal (Dr. Fitsseha Tsion Mengistu and Associates- 25 October 200).

What about Ethiopians? What are they too saying about Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia?

"Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and the Ambassadors' Donors Group met on May 9, 2005 in Addis Ababa. From a series of questions fielded, Meles was asked what pushed him to borrow a word from the Rwanda genocide - i.e. Interhamwe - even though Ethiopia was basking in a peaceful political climate as evidenced in Addis by the flawless conduct of an opposition rally estimated at over two million supporters. Instead of rushing to Zenawi's response, Ethiomedia has chosen to ask Ethiopians whether we truly know the prime minister, and if we have doubts, to critically examine and re-examine the scary intentions the PM has for this country and any power contender as peaceful and popular as the incomparable CUD"- {Do We Really Know Meles Zenawi? Ethiomedia editorial -from the Classified Notes -February 27- 2007}:

If so, what is to be done? As we could see it is not only democracy that lacks in those two brotherly communities environment. If that was the case it could have been easy to bring the solution in the near future. But, it is not democracy as we were told before 50 years by British and Italy and now under some deluded new politicians that the source of the Eritrea and Ethiopia society's problem as lack of democracy. The fact is not democracy, but lack of community and leaders who think of unity as one nation and unitary people. The problem is that they were always believed that the dream creating myth and destruction to Ethiopia for a homework that last for a hundred years.

Either the dream of creating either the "miracle land" or the "promised land" of milk and honey could not realistically be achieved as long as many Eritreans continue to live in self-delusion.  As Dr. FessehaTsion Mengistu clearly stated it in such fact that "anyone who doesn't what understand the inseparable nature of those relationships is in a dream world and doesn't know what he/she is talking about. The question is if Eritreans know about this why have they kept silent and gave Isayas's crimes a blind eye for to long? This is the question that they and not we should answer" said Fisseha Tsion Mengistu & Associates.

The same goes to us to the Ethiopian people. We" the people" are still soft and vulnerable, kind of herd of animal kept together under a controlee of few gangsters. And we ourselves allowed it to happen that way. Few mercenary young fools posses us as their personal items. Our country, our dignity, our privacy belong not to us but to them! Yes, <Our problem is often, that we uncritical and categories that others have developed for their own peculiar situation and /or from their own particular perspective and we let them apply these categories to us as they see fit.  The situation reduces essentially to this: They i.e., some expatriates, tell us there is, for example, a Hausa tribe, Tigray tribe, Gurage tribe, Oromo tribe, Kikuyu, tribe, Amhara tribe, a Tigray, etc, etc, We accept and begin identifying ourselves as such. They later change the label, come, and tell us, "No, you are not a tribe, you are an ethnic group."We gleefully accept the revision and loudly proclaim to the world, "I am an ethnic group!" Then are told, "No, not an ethnic group. You are a nationality, a nation..." and we begin to ask for self determination>!

This is what our opposition scholars and politicians telling us are a "Democracy" at its best!   How then can the two brotherly people be free from war and conflict as long as the myth of building democracy as a solution to the deeper problem that is beyond the demand of democracy? -/- Ethiopia Prevail!!

Men thinking freely will, in particular instances, think differently
According to your argument “If democracy can not prevent war, how can justice bring peace without democracy? Justice with out democracy is injustice it is woyane justice. War can not bring democracy; if you say yes then it is tyranny. Because you mentioned Andargachew and Mewa, I am not going to support your illogical argument in this article, to quote you:
"It is imperative the opposition politicians should have known better than any of us the ordinary people, that the source of such tragic situation is never been for a democracy that failed or due to the absence of democracy on both sides of the leadership"
If there was democracy people can express their opinion discuss and convince each other to avoid conflicts and hate. With out democracy only the dictator’s opinion is spread
After all there has never been free society democracy in Ethiopia and Eritrea. All other things fraternity, equality, liberty, Justice, mutual diplomacy, fair conflict resolution all are result of democracy. Of course democracy does not prevent war between Ethiopia and Egypt on waters of the Nile. The consequences are different if the government is democrat the war can be averted on table round or the war it is going to be just war because it is the people’s decision. If the government is not democrat it is going to be Fascism or Nazism against the will of the people. The problem now is both people are fighting against their will. If there was free election in Ethiopia and free election in Eritrea without fear, I think we could have started living in peace without hate. Problem arises when dictator rule, they recommend war because it is profitable and they will remain in office prolonging their carriers
