This article provoked flaring and flexing discussions among both Ethiopians and Eritreans on Assab Ports’s inalienable ownership and use rights Comments (1)

As Dr. Tekeste conclusively pointed out, integration of the Eritrean economy with that of Ethiopia is not matter of expediency but of survival. The brunt of this homework lies with Eritrean regime. The initiative of dismantling the barriers rests existing thus far must be taken up by the Eritrean government and peoples as they were the ones who obstructed the process. In fact, it is to the best interest of Eritrea that “… its leaders and intellectuals begin to revise the colonial myths- myths which gave rise to unlimited suffering. Many people have spoken and written about the inseparable destiny of Eritrea and Ethiopia, and I subscribe to that view. I also subscribe to the view that is spreading in many parts of Ethiopia that the Eritreans cannot have it both ways.”
